More Funding for Attractions Tech

GlobalTix, a Singapore-headquartered software startup for attractions ticketing and distribution, fo has raised $9 million in series A funding from Tin Men Capital.

The funding is the latest in a series of investments into startups providing distribution and ticketing technology specifically for attractions and events. In November Tiqets and Festicket both announced new venture rounds, while Australia’s Roller Software raised $7 million this past summer.

The majority of venture capital for the in-destination industry (Tours, Activities & Attractions) has gone to online travel agencies including Klook and GetYourGuide, as well as software startups serving tour and activity operators, such as Peek, TrekkSoft and Rezdy. Attractions and the technology that powers their ticketing has largely gone unnoticed.

However, as we argued in The Arival Guide to Ticketing Tech, the technology powering attractions and ticket distribution will be the next area of investment and innovation. Modern technology adoption and limited connectivity continue to hinder online and mobile selling.

Founded by brothers Chan Chee Chong and Chan Chee Kong, GlobalTix offers software and distribution designed for attractions and activity operators. The company currently handles more than $75 million worth of transactions annually and works with companies such as Universal Studios Singapore, Singapore Zoo, Singapore Airlines, among others. The company intends to use the funding to expand across Asia.
